Produced by Alejo Kahle Castro, a descendant of one of Costa Rica’s pioneering coffee families, Volcán Azul carries a tradition of pursuing exceptional coffee that spans generations. Grown above 1400 MASL in rich volcanic soils, carefully selected ripe coffee cherries are dried whole on raised beds for 12 to 16 days, with controlled fermentation and slow drying developing the natural sweetness and fruit character of the coffee. The result is a clean, juicy cup with flavours of plum, peach, cherry and jasmine, balanced by bright acidity and a lingering sweetness.
