Campo Hermoso is operated by Edwin Noreña, a highly regarded Colombian coffee producer, Q Grader and coffee processing specialist. Campo Hermoso is known for its research driven approach to fermentation and post harvest processing, particularly carbonic maceration, mossto fermentation and other controlled fermentation techniques.

Edwin works not only with coffee grown at Campo Hermoso but also with selected producers in other Colombian growing regions, processing exceptional lots through the Campo Hermoso research and development program. Current sources describe Campo Hermoso as a 25 hectare farm in Circasia, Quindío, with Edwin also working with growers and receiving coffee from other regions through the Santuario network.

Chiroso is a highly distinctive Colombian grown variety known for its floral aromatics, complex acidity and elongated seed shape. Although it was historically referred to as Caturra Chiroso, more recent genetic research indicates that Chiroso has Ethiopian landrace ancestry rather than simply being a Caturra mutation.

For this lot, the coffee undergoes a washed carbonic maceration process, combining controlled fermentation with subsequent removal of the fruit and mucilage before drying. Carbonic maceration is an additional fermentation stage rather than a replacement for the washed process, which is why the coffee can correctly be described as Carbonic Maceration Washed or Washed CM.
