For the geeks: Eagle-eyed fans may recognise this name from several months back. This is another offering from Nyagashiha, but a this time a different lot and roasted for filter rather than espresso. Nyagashiha mill is one of 13 mills that collectively make up the Akawa project. The project was created to help local producers break the cycle of poverty in a sustainable way through increasing the quality and price of their coffees. This coffee is a washed process lot, but it was dried on traditional raised beds like many natural African coffees. The result is a great example of Burundi coffee with a solid black tea and fruit flavour profile and an intense but pleasing acidity that really shines in filter coffee preparations.
